The “Salvatore Cavallo” Art Gallery is housed in a large building located in the center of the town of San Michele Salentino, just a few meters from the Town Hall. The building consists of two floors, connected by a wide and winding staircase. From a spacious hall, visitors reach the bookshop and have access to the Library, which offers a space for creative games intended for the youngest visitors, the youth information desk, and other useful services for citizens. An exhibition branch of the Art Gallery is the municipal building, where numerous works from the municipal collection, kept in the gallery’s storage, are exhibited on rotation. After a period of closure for renovation works, the Art Gallery has recently reopened to the public, coinciding with the inauguration of the 3rd National Exhibition of Contemporary Sacred Art “La Forma Eletta,” which can be visited from March 15 to April 22, 2012.
