La Pinacoteca “Salvatore Cavallo” is housed in a large building located in the center of the City of San Michele Salentino, just a few meters from the Town Hall. The building consists of two floors, connected by a wide and winding staircase. From a spacious hall, you reach the bookshop and access the Library, which has a space for creative games intended for the youngest users, the youth information desk, and other services useful to citizens. An exhibition branch of the Pinacoteca is the municipal headquarters, where the numerous works of the municipal collection, kept in the deposits of the pinacoteca, are displayed on rotation. After a period of closure for redevelopment works, the Pinacoteca has recently reopened to the public, coinciding with the inauguration of the III National Exhibition of Contemporary Sacred Art “La Forma Eletta,” which can be visited from March 15 to April 22, 2012.
