At Palazzo Pistilli, in the heart of the historic center of Campobasso, is exhibited the art collection that Michele Praitano assembled in over fifty years of research in Italy and abroad and donated to the State in 2014. Each artwork carries not only the story of its creation and the reflection of an era and a cultural context, but also the history of its acquisition by this passionate collector: encounters with artists, antique dealers, and other figures; the artistic choices focused especially on 19th- and 20th-century painting inspired by realism, impressionism, and classicism, the successes and disappointments.

Naples was the historical-artistic and market context most explored by Praitano, also preferred by him to reconnect those links of Molisan authors with a city that was open to international experiences as well. The collection offers numerous points of enjoyment and also reflection.
The works are in dialogue with those from the Giovanni Eliseo collection – donated by his son Massimo to the State on December 14, 2012 – and the collection of Giuseppe Ottavio Eliseo, acquired by the Province of Campobasso.
