A Palazzo Pistilli, in the heart of the historic center of Campobasso, the art collection that Michele Praitano formed over more than fifty years of research in Italy and abroad is exhibited and was donated to the State in 2014. Each work contains not only the story of its creation and the reflection of an era, and of a cultural context, but also the history of its acquisition by this passionate collector: encounters with artists, antique dealers, and other figures; artistic choices focused especially on nineteenth and twentieth-century painting inspired by realism, impressionism, and classicism, successes and disappointments.

Naples was the historical-artistic and market context most explored by Praitano, also preferred by him to find those links of Molisan authors with a city that was open to international experiences. The collection offers numerous moments of enjoyment and also reflection.
The works are in dialogue with those from the collection of Giovanni Eliseo – donated by his son Massimo to the State on December 14, 2012 – and the collection of Giuseppe Ottavio Eliseo, acquired by the Province of Campobasso.
