A Palazzo Pistilli, in the heart of the historic center of Campobasso, the art collection that Michele Praitano has formed over more than fifty years of research in Italy and abroad is on display, and donated to the State in 2014. Each work not only contains the story of its creation and the reflection of an era, and a cultural context, but also the acquisition history by this passionate collector: meetings with artists, antique dealers, and other figures; artistic choices focused especially on nineteenth and early twentieth-century painting inspired by realism, impressionism, and classicism, successes and disappointments.

Naples was the most explored historical-artistic and market context by Praitano, preferred by him also to be able to find those connecting threads of Molisan authors with a city that also opened up to international experiences. The collection offers numerous points of enjoyment and also reflection.
The works are in dialogue with those from the collection of Giovanni Eliseo – donated by his son Massimo to the State on December 14, 2012 – and the collection of Giuseppe Ottavio Eliseo, acquired by the Province of Campobasso.
