Some wall remains of tombs from the late Republic era to the mid-2nd century AD are preserved, with particular reference to the construction type called “columbarium” related to the practice of cremation.
Specifically, the remains of a boundary wall of a monument built with squared tuff and peperino blocks, featuring a representation of a false door, the so-called Great Columbarium (from which the paintings preserved at the National Roman Museum originate) and the Small Columbarium are preserved. Both were discovered in the 1820s-1830s during excavations carried out by the Doria Pamphilj family. A few meters away from these, another columbarium with abundant high-quality pictorial remains attributable to the Augustan age was discovered in 1984.

The area, as it houses the 17th-century Algardi villa, is currently used by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers as a representative seat.
