In the 16th-century Villa Pallavicino in Busseto, the new National Museum Giuseppe Verdi was inaugurated on October 10, 2009, to celebrate the Man, the Works, and the Myth of the world’s most popular opera composer. The 27 works of the Great Composer are represented in a historical path featuring reproductions of the original stage sets from Casa Ricordi and paintings of the era, the fine textiles of the 1800s, the immortal music, all within a theatrical lighting environment that conveys unique emotions to visitors and guides them through an intense romantic atmosphere conceived by the renowned set designer and director Pier Luigi Pizzi. The music stands, with texts created by the famous art critic Philippe Daverio, offer a historical perspective of the era, the events, and the characters who influenced Giuseppe Verdi in the creation of his works.
