The MAXXI National Museum of 21st Century Arts is the first national institution dedicated to contemporary creativity, designed as a large cultural campus. MAXXI is managed by a Foundation established in July 2009 by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. It houses two museums: MAXXI Art and MAXXI Architecture.

The program of activities – exhibitions, workshops, conferences, labs, performances, screenings, educational projects – reflects MAXXI’s vocation to be not only a place for preserving and exhibiting heritage but also, above all, a laboratory for experimentation and cultural innovation, study, research, and production of aesthetic content of our time.

MAXXI’s headquarters is the great architectural work, with innovative and spectacular forms, designed by Zaha Hadid in the Flaminio district of Rome.
