Located in some rooms at the Casa del Mutilato, headquarters of the National Association of Fighters and Veterans, the museum dedicated to the two world wars was officially opened in 1995, although the collection was formed in the early Seventies. Over six thousand war-related photographs document the various fronts, captivity, moments of the Resistance, and the disasters caused by bombings. Over nine hundred objects make up the museum’s heritage: coins and ration cards, tools from prisoner of war camps, uniforms, capes from 1915-1918, colonial helmets, war equipment. The exhibition also features an original 1912 bicycle, a skier soldier’s gear, and the uniform of the Garibaldi officer Enrico Marabini, silver medalist for the battle of Bezzecca in 1866. Noteworthy for its uniqueness is the collection of soldier’s mess tins bearing writings and engravings, which provide visitors with the “living” memory of the harsh daily life of the military during the conflicts.
