The museum, owned by Mrs. Rosa Furfari, is located in an apartment owned by the museum’s director, on the first floor of a post-war building in the historic center of the city. Its purpose is the enhancement and promotion of a cultural heritage, that of silk and the Calabrian textile tradition in general, which boasts a history of about 1000 years and has greatly influenced the development of the local economy. The museum exhibits fabrics, clothing, and accessories collected from the mid-1800s to the present day. The artifacts preserved in the museum testify to the textile and silk tradition from the initial processing stage to the finished product. There is also space for the tools used in the processing of these fabrics.
