Established on the occasion of the Jubilee of 2000, the museum of the metropolitan church of San Pietro permanently displays the so-called Cathedral Treasure. It is a precious collection of furnishings and sacred vestments made between the 15th and 20th centuries to be used in the most solemn liturgical celebrations. The most important groups belong to the blessed Nicolò Albergati (Bishop of Bologna from 1417 to 1443), Pope Gregory XV (Alessandro Ludovisi, Archbishop of Bologna from 1612 to 1621), and Pope Benedict XIV (Prospero Lambertini, Archbishop of Bologna from 1731 to 1754).
