Designed in the late 1980s by a group of former officers of the Italian Air Force, the Park-Museum was inaugurated in 1994. Among the most important of its kind in Italy, it covers an area of over sixty thousand square meters. Here are rare examples of aircraft: from the Sukhoi 7, the only one existing in the West, to the Mig 23 of the famous Russian series, unique in Italy. No less rare is the 1932 Saiman 202. The Corsair II was donated by the US government. The collection of documents, photographs, objects, memorabilia, uniforms, honors, and badges is particularly rich. In a special pavilion, collections of medals are displayed, including one donated by Mussolini to Italo Balbo for the transatlantic flights of 1930 and ’33. A room is dedicated to the projection of films shot by the cinematographic operators of the time. The museum also publishes a biannual magazine, with information and news on the history of aeronautics and the activities of the Thematic Park.
