The Museum of Popular Piety is nestled like a gem within the complex of the Basilica of the Madonna dei Martiri. The museum houses a wide variety of elements such as: statues, ancient sacred furnishings, liturgical vestments used before the Second Vatican Council, antique prints, samples of the Madonna’s gold items, paintings and ex-voto objects, relics, and a large variety of large and small nativity scenes from around the world. The entire collection allows visitors to trace a historical journey that starts from the 12th century and ends with the artistic permanent nativity scene created in 2004.
