The Museum is located in the central Piazza del Popolo, the heart of the old town center of Presicce, on the first floor of the Palazzo Ducale. The objects are arranged within several thematic rooms: the Earth Room, the Fire Room, the Water Room, and the Time Room. The artifacts are the result of donations from private citizens who wanted to share their treasures with the community and with visitors eager to learn about and delve into the peasant traditions of Salento. The Museum is part of the national “Oil Roads” circuit. Since 1996, the “Museo Aperto” Association has been carrying out outreach and training activities through cultural events, local interventions, and guided tours.
