The museum was strongly desired by Mr. Luigi Aceto and his family, united in a small Cooperative called “C.A.T.A.”, now in its fifth generation of farming activity devoted to the cultivation of the Amalfi lemon, the “sfusato Amalfitano”. It consists of a historic collection, created over almost thirty years of research and acquisition, of objects, paintings, photos, and memorabilia that evoke all the professional arts practiced by artisans and farmers of the Amalfi Coast linked to the land, the sea, and work in general: from a 1600s press to a modern loom; from equipment used by Master papermakers to modern shop cash registers and vintage radios; from a series of weighing instruments called “le stadere” to modern scales; from precision tools used by jewelers and winemakers to modern distillers for the production of grappa. Special attention has been given to lemon cultivation with exhibits of equipment used for growing and trading. Additionally, historical photos and logos of companies that exported this very important and precious fruit worldwide are displayed. Containers, vessels, weighing tools, and packaging instruments for lemons are also featured. The exhibit is divided into craft sectors and will let you relive centuries of sacrifices and hardships that our ancestors faced to leave us the world we live in today.
