The Museum of Ecclesiastical Assets of the Diocese of Rieti, with its exhibition path that runs through the environments of the Cathedral and the ancient Papal Palace, allows us to learn not only about strictly ecclesiastical aspects but also the heritage of history, art, and faith of the city collected over the centuries.
The liturgical objects, statues, paintings, and vestments document the ways and styles through which the catechetical intent of the clergy, the skill of local artists, and the popular religiosity have been expressed.
The exhibition path develops in intrinsically evocative environments, bearing clear traces of the architectural and artistic expertise of past centuries: from the Cathedral Treasury, which has had its seat for over thirty years in the ancient Baptistery dominated by the pictorial and sculptural memories of the Renaissance, the visitor crosses the upper basilica, with its strong Romanesque structure and interiors vividly bearing the mark of the Tridentine age, then descends into the lower basilica to access the sacristies and the Lapidarium, which maintain intact the medieval atmosphere.

From here, crossing the little cloister that leads to the 13th-century Papal Palace, one reaches the art gallery, set up in the audience hall of the papal curia, a rightful pride of the architect Andrea magister for its harmonious proportions and vast spaces.
