The Santa Maria Nova site in Rome spans three hectares of countryside dotted with ruins centered around an ancient farmhouse, left completely abandoned for about 10 years and illegally occupied by communities of undocumented people, until it was purchased by the State in 2006. Since then, excavation and restoration work has been carried out that has allowed the area to be opened to the public not only to enjoy the important new archaeological discoveries brought to light but also to use the internal spaces of the farmhouse.

During the archaeological excavations carried out in the areas outside the building, numerous Roman-era structures were found: sections of paved road, a 2nd-century AD cemetery area, and buildings presumably related to the large complex of the Villa dei Quintili, adjacent to the estate.

It is possible to visit the Santa Maria Nova complex following the opening hours and access methods of Villa dei Quintili.
