Housed inside “Casa Gandolfi”, it is part of the Imola Center for Documentation on the Anti-Fascist Resistance and Contemporary History (CIDRA) and was established between 1983 and 1985 on the initiative of resistance associations and the Municipality of Imola. In six exhibition rooms, various themes are explored to help visitors retrace the stages of the history of the Imola area between the two world wars: Twenty Years of Fascism and Anti-fascism; The Difficult Beginning of the Partisan Movement; Resistance in the City and Plain; Guerrilla Warfare in the Apennines; The Battles of the 36th Brigade; Liberation, Reconstruction, Republic, Constitution. The route is accompanied by panels and display cases preserving photographs, posters, flyers, newspapers, various documents, memorabilia, topographic maps, models, and war devices. Also notable is a philatelic-numismatic collection and letters from military internees and deportees. CIDRA also possesses a very rich historical archive, holding over 45,000 documents as well as an important photographic and audiovisual collection, and a library offering seven thousand volumes and booklets along with a substantial periodicals archive.
