In the building adjacent to the Maritime Museum to which it is internally connected, it houses archaeological materials, mostly findings not linked to systematic excavations, coming from Roman-era settlements scattered in the hinterland of the seaside town. They are presented with an educational arrangement that facilitates understanding the main aspects of daily organization in predominantly agricultural areas, marked by the presence of rustic villas and settlement clusters with their building features and small burial sites. Among the most valuable elements, the testimonies linked to the exploration of the Roman kiln at Ca’ Turci should be remembered, a production complex of which two of the furnaces with their combustion chamber and the ‘praefornium’ are still visible ‘in situ’. The museum’s display of the range of products from this plant highlights a craft activity that began during the 3rd century BC and specialized on one hand in the manufacture of everyday pottery and, on the other, in the modeling of full-round statues likely used as furniture complements for private buildings. The most notable creations from the kiln are the two fragmentary statues, of a young man and an old man, which were part of a unique terracotta group.
