The Moretti Caselli Artistic Stained Glass Studio is located in the historic center of Perugia, at the foot of the Rocca Paolina, on Via Fatebenefratelli. The house that hosts the museum dates back to the late 1400s and belonged to the Baglioni family. In 1541, to build the Rocca Paolina, all the Baglioni houses were destroyed except this one, which, having become a college and later acquired by the Free University of Perugia, was ceded in 1894 to the founder of the studio, Francesco Moretti.
Visiting the museum-workshop allows you to get in touch with one of the oldest families of master glassmakers in Italy and is a discovery of the secrets of painting on glass.
The workshop, where stained glass windows preserved in the most important churches in Umbria were made (from the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli to the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, to the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Orvieto), preserves, in addition to the original furnishings, sketches, drafts, and plaster molds for the creation of stained glass windows. There is a library and a historical archive containing the drafts of the works executed.
There is also a remarkable collection of photographic plates, photographic equipment, and antique photographs.
