Lo Studio di vetrate artistiche Moretti Caselli is located in the historic center of Perugia, at the foot of the Rocca Paolina, in via Fatebenefratelli. The house that hosts the museum dates back to the late 1400s and belonged to the Baglioni family. In 1541, to build the Rocca Paolina, all the Baglioni houses were destroyed, except this one which, having become a college and then acquired by the Free University of Perugia, was ceded by it in 1894 to the founder of the studio, Francesco Moretti.
The visit to the museum-workshop allows you to come into contact with one of the oldest families of master glassmakers in Italy and is a discovery of the secrets of glass painting.
The workshop, where stained glass windows preserved in the most important churches of Umbria (from the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli to the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, to the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta of Orvieto) were made, preserves, in addition to the original furnishings, sketches, drafts, plaster molds for the realization of the stained glass. There is a library and a historical archive that contains the sketches of the executed works.
Also notable is the collection of photographic plates, instruments for photographing, and old photographs.
