Founded in 1739 and established in its current location in 1898, the Anatomy Museum offers the opportunity to observe, in rooms and setups dating back to the late nineteenth century, collections of great historical and scientific interest. In environments characterized by monumental architecture, anatomical preparations and instruments are alongside wax, papier-mâché, wood, and ivory models, oil paintings on canvas, and marble busts—interesting evidence of the close ties between art and science that have marked the tradition of anatomical studies.
