The Museum of Oriental Art was established from the redefinition, renewal, and expansion of the Oriental Section of the Civic Museum of Ancient Art.
The Municipality of Turin provided the new museum with Palazzo Mazzonis, a property owned by the city located at the intersection of Via S. Domenico and Via S. Agostino.
The MAO also aims to collect, preserve, and present to the public significant works of artistic production from Asian societies and to allow scholars of those countries’ culture and art a deeper study of the works themselves.
