The Museum is located on the southern outskirts of Città di Castello, in the farmhouse belonging to Villa Capelletti.

Established in 1974, the museum is one of the first examples in Italy of a collection of objects related to peasant tradition. In the following rooms, the artisanal work necessary for the production of everyday consumer goods and their preservation are documented, fully respecting the habits of the domestic economy of the time.

The visit begins on the ground floor where the blacksmith’s shop is located, preserving leather bellows and common tools, the stables with objects for the use and care of animals such as yokes, hay cutters, harnesses, and baskets, and the cellar with flasks, funnels, barrels, vats, and presses.
In the room used as an oil mill, besides the jars, oil amphorae, and baskets, there is a stone mill and a gigantic 18th-century press. On the upper floor is the large kitchen, typical of the patriarchal family, with the stone hearth and the ceiling from which grapes hang to dry for making vinsanto, while on the walls are small everyday work tools such as tomato strainers, worn “battilarde,” variously shaped “grattacascie,” and flour sieves.
The bedroom has a wrought iron bed with a mattress filled with corn leaves and sheets and blankets made on a loom.
This is followed by the shoemaker’s workshop and the carpenter’s shop. In the large attic, all the tools necessary for sorting and processing cereals, the looms, and the tools needed for spinning have been gathered.
