Named after its founder Augusto Rinaldi Ceroni, it is a botanical garden created with the aim of conserving and cultivating plants of medicinal and aromatic interest. Owned by the Emilia-Romagna Region, since 2000 it has been managed by the Municipality of Casola Valsenio, in collaboration with the Cooperativa Montana Valle del Segno and Soc. di Area. It was inaugurated in 1975, but the herb garden has much older roots. It was founded in 1938 thanks to Professor Augusto Rinaldi Ceroni, then director of the vocational agricultural school, who obtained permission from the school authorities to use a plot of land granted by the Municipality to the school for student exercises as an experimental field for original plants. Having become part of the Provincial Museum System of Ravenna in 2003, the Garden has always played an important educational and promotional role, ensuring the conservation of over 400 species of medicinal and aromatic herbs, both native and non-native. Today the garden covers four hectares of land used as a permanent exhibition of aromatic, medicinal, essential oil, cosmetic, and melliferous plants.
