The museum, adjacent to the Chinese Casina commissioned by Ferdinand of Bourbon, was founded in 1909 by Giuseppe Pitrè, a folklorist and scholar of customs and popular traditions, and houses numerous collections ranging from costumes to hunting tools, from nativity scenes to insignias, from sacred objects to ex-votos.
