The exhibition gallery of the National Library of Potenza permanently showcases the works of the Italian-American artist Albert Friscia (New York 1911 – Rome 1989), donated to the library by the artist’s wife.
Displayed are 96 paintings, 65 bronze and marble sculptures, and 10 kinetic works created between 1935 and 1989, reflecting the multifaceted activity of an artist constantly searching for new forms of expression. Among his important bronze works are the door of the narthex of Chicago Cathedral, the monument “Fluidity of Communication” in the courtyard of the Ministry of Posts in Rome, and the main altar in the Bernini apse of the Vatican Basilica.
