The museum complex, covering an area of over 5000 sqm, pays tribute to the great Modenese driver and builder Enzo Ferrari and to Italian motorsport. The executive project involved the restoration of the old house where Enzo Ferrari was born in 1898 and where his father Alfredo had a mechanical workshop, as well as the creation of the imposing yellow aluminum “hood,” a prestigious work of contemporary architecture designed by Jan Kaplicky, with interior design and artistic direction by Andrea Morgante. This futuristic building, celebrating the world of motors with its shape, houses the exhibition gallery where you can admire the stars of the display: sports cars. In a renewable exhibition format, the brands that made the history of Italian sports car production are celebrated: Ferrari, Maserati, Scaglietti, Alfa Romeo, De Tomaso, Stanguellini and other prestigious brands. Around this large exhibition space, a series of rooms open up, hosting the documentation center, the conference hall, the cinema room, and various services including the bookshop and the café. The setting of the old birthplace offers visitors a multimedia path revisiting the most significant events of Enzo Ferrari’s life, as a man, driver and builder, through the use of images, memorabilia and unseen footage.
