It’s the perfect time to book a December trip to discover the Christmas markets in Denmark. Here, the Christmas season is celebrated with great enthusiasm and in respect of an ancient tradition; it is no coincidence that in Denmark you can find some of the most magical and beautiful Christmas markets.
Christmas Markets in Denmark
Although there are charming ones in the city of Copenhagen itself, the suggestion is to venture further to discover other markets and above all other places in Denmark.
For example, some markets are set up inside castles: everything will appear even more evocative and fairytale-like.
In particular, the Christmas bazaars at the Kronborg Castle, the Valdemar Castle, and the Dragsholm Castle deserve a visit.
Other markets to consider are those in Vejle, a town in the countryside of the Grejs valley, and those in Arhus.
In the first case, you can reach the place aboard steam trains, traveling through fairytale snowy landscapes: this is one of the features that will make the trip to Denmark even more special.
In the second case, however, it is recommended to visit the Christmas markets of Arhus because you will take a dive into the past: in the historic “Den Gamle By – the Old Town” the atmosphere from the years between 1625 and 1929 will be recreated: a long historical and social excursus on the theme of Christmas.
If instead you want to go further north, then in Skagen there is something unmissable: the living Advent calendar.
