Sound in its technological dimension is the protagonist of the House of Sound: a cutting-edge project in the artistic and technological field born from the collaboration between the Casa della Musica and the University of Parma. The House of Sound, located in the evocative space of the former church of Santa Elisabetta (mid-17th century), was created with the ambition to reflect on our way of listening to and understanding music, and it is dedicated to a very broad audience: meaning all those who today listen to music and sounds transmitted by technological instruments. The path proposed by the House of Sound is the history and evolution of these instruments leading up to the current situation (from the phonograph to the gramophone, from the radio to the tape recorder, from the compact disc to the iPod) and looking towards the future. Inside, it welcomes a precious collection of sound reproduction devices, as well as structures equipped with innovative sound reproduction systems and services dedicated to scientific and artistic research, education, and dissemination.
