Palazzo Brancaleoni houses the archaic section of the Civic Archaeological Museum of Fara in Sabina and the municipal Historical Archive, while the medieval section is located inside the Abbey of Farfa.
The Palace is a 15th-century building that belonged to the noble Brancaleoni family. It originated from the merging of several medieval structures, among which two tower-houses incorporated into the Renaissance renovation are recognizable, adapted to the new architectural and residential canons of the 1400s that featured representative floors reserved for the owners, richly decorated with frescoes and coffered wooden ceilings. In the five rooms on the “noble” floor, materials spanning from prehistory to the Roman era are exhibited. Specifically, among the displayed artifacts are materials from the hut of Cures (8th century B.C.) and the gold sheets from the princely burial equipment of Colle del Forno (tomb XI-late 7th century B.C.).
On the ground floor, the municipal Historical Archive preserves documentation of the territory starting from the late 15th century.
