The Civic Museum of Bassano del Grappa preserves some important historical naturalistic collections, acquired during the nineteenth century. Among these, the Brocchi-Parolini geo-paleontological collection stands out for its size and fame, accompanied by several botanical collections, the largest of which is the Parolini Herbarium, with over 15,000 specimens. More recently, new botanical and entomological collections and a large zoological collection, consisting of hundreds of specimens of birds from the western Palearctic and dozens of taxidermied mammals from various continents, have been added to the historic collections.
Since 2006, the Museum has also housed in the Palazzo Bonaguro location a nucleus of zoological specimens permanently entrusted by the CITES Service of the State Forestry Corps, exhibited within the “Animal World. Knowing it to protect it” exhibition.
