Il 18 June 2010, the Rodolfo Valentino Documentary Museum was inaugurated in Castellaneta in the suggestive former monastery of S. Chiara, with a permanent exhibition “Rodolfo Valentino, seduction of the myth,” displaying unpublished celebratory materials of the great Apulian actor. The Museum Institute is sponsored by the Presidency of the Junta, the Tourism Department of the Puglia Region, the Tourism Department of the Province of Taranto, and the Culture and P.I. Department of the Municipality of Castellaneta, and strongly desired by the Rodolfo Valentino Foundation. The exhibition displays photographic and cinematographic material featuring Rodolfo Valentino, divided into a first part of the path with the setup of display panels in the “Hall of the Great Lover” and a second part of the path that includes screenings of the “Myth” films. Also exhibited are 35 film posters of the films interpreted by Rodolfo Valentino and the reconstruction of the film set of “The Son of the Sheik.” The exhibition’s aim is undoubtedly to outline the artistic skills of this great artist from Castellaneta, one of the most famous actors in America during the silent film years.
