Il 18 June 2010, the Rodolfo Valentino Documentary Museum was inaugurated in Castellaneta in the suggestive former monastery of S. Chiara, with a permanent exhibition “Rodolfo Valentino, seduction of the myth,” within which unpublished celebratory materials of the great Apulian actor are displayed. The Museum Institute is sponsored by the Presidency of the Regional Executive, the Tourism Department of the Puglia Region, the Tourism Department of the Province of Taranto, and the Culture and P.I. Department of the Municipality of Castellaneta, and is strongly promoted by the Rodolfo Valentino Foundation. The exhibition displays photographic and cinematographic material featuring Rodolfo Valentino as the protagonist, divided into a first part with the setup of display panels in the “Room of the great Lover” and a second part of the path that includes screenings of the films of the “Myth.” Also exhibited are 35 film posters of movies interpreted by Rodolfo Valentino, the reconstruction of the film set of “The Son of the Sheik.” The intent of the exhibition is undoubtedly to outline the artistic abilities of this great artist from Castellaneta, one of the most famous actors in America during the silent film era.
