On June 18, 2010, the Rodolfo Valentino Documentary Museum was inaugurated in Castellaneta in the evocative former monastery of S. Chiara, featuring a permanent exhibition “Rodolfo Valentino, Seduction of the Myth,” which displays unpublished celebratory materials of the great Apulian actor. The Museum Institute is sponsored by the Presidency of the Regional Council, the Tourism Department of the Apulia Region, the Tourism Department of the Province of Taranto, and the Department of Culture and Public Instruction of the Municipality of Castellaneta, and strongly promoted by the Rodolfo Valentino Foundation. The exhibition showcases photographic and film materials focusing on Rodolfo Valentino, divided into two main sections: the first part with display panels in the “Hall of the Great Lover” and the second part featuring screenings of films of the “Myth.” Also exhibited are 35 movie posters of films starring Rodolfo Valentino and a reconstruction of the film set of “The Son of the Sheik.” The exhibition aims undoubtedly to outline the artistic talents of this great Castellaneta artist, one of the most famous actors in America during the silent film era.
