Il Museo Civico di Albano is housed in the prestigious neoclassical-style villa of the Marchesi Ferrajoli, which in many rooms still preserves the painted decoration executed by Caretti in the early 1800s.
The archaeological collections of the Museum cover a time span from the Lower Paleolithic to the Renaissance.
The oldest evidence consists of lithic industries coming from the pile-dwelling village of Macine, submerged in the waters of Lake Albano, which archaeologically documents human presence in ancient Lazio during the Middle Bronze Age 1 (18th-16th centuries BC).
