Il Museo Agostinelli was born from the lifelong collection of the collector Domenico Agostinelli, who moved to Rome in 1959. The museum contains 60,000 objects of popular culture divided and classified into four hundred and fifty collections, from buttons to human teeth, from autographs to boot jacks.

The Museum was inaugurated around the Sixties, but was officially recognized by the Superintendency of Fine Arts only in 1992. Among the Museum’s curiosities, we highlight the presence of letters written by Mazzini and addressed to Garibaldi, artifacts from the tomb of the pharaoh Tutankhamun, and an eighteenth-century list of books placed on the index.

Finally, it is worth noting a unique project organized by Agostinelli, the Time Box: a series of objects belonging to our contemporary era, such as color televisions, CD players, are collected in a single room that will only be opened in 2050, when this collection will represent an antiquarian study subject for future generations.
