Il Museo Civico di Albano is housed in the prestigious Neoclassical villa of the Marchesi Ferrajoli, which in many rooms still preserves the painted decoration executed by Caretti in the early nineteenth century.
The archaeological collections of the Museum cover a time span from the Lower Paleolithic to the Renaissance.
The oldest evidence consists of lithic industries from the stilt village of Le Macine, submerged in the waters of Lake Albano, which archaeologically documents human presence in ancient Lazio in the Middle Bronze Age 1 (18th-16th centuries BC).
