Located within the Villa Lanolina park in a building designed by architect F. Minissi, the Museum houses works arranged according to a topographical and chronological criterion dating back to a period between prehistory and the Greek age. The first core of its heritage comes from the archbishop’s collection from the late eighteenth century, to which were added assets resulting from donations and materials found during excavation campaigns in the territory, aimed at recovering the ancient sites of Akrai, Tapsos, Megara Hyblaea, Pantalica, and many others. Noteworthy is the prestigious Medal Cabinet that illustrates the extraordinary monetary production of the Greek colonies of Sicily.
