Located within the park of Villa Lanolina in a building designed by architect F. Minissi, the Museum houses works arranged according to a topographical and chronological criterion, dating from a period ranging from prehistory to the Greek age. The first core of its collection comes from the archiepiscopal collection of the late eighteenth century, to which were added goods resulting from donations and materials found during excavation campaigns in the territory, aimed at recovering the ancient sites of Akrai, Tapsos, Megara Hyblaea, Pantalica, and many others. Noteworthy is the prestigious Coin Cabinet illustrating the extraordinary monetary production of the Greek colonies of Sicily.
