Portobello London
Getting to the Portobello market in London is convenient and easy, thanks to two underground stations, Notting Hill Gate and Ladbroke Grove and the numerous bus rides. Besides being the most famous in London, Portobello is also the most touristic, with all the pros and cons. On the stalls, there are pieces of antiques, old junk, bric à brac of all kinds, even the most unimaginable things; prices range from a few pounds to truly hefty amounts, which require maintaining a high level of critical sense, since not everything is as original and exclusive as the dealers, the exhibitor-sellers, intend to make people believe.
London Markets
More rustic, authentic, and certainly affordable, there are markets such as Camden Town, Brick Lane, Brixton or the Borough Market, for those who do not disdain the delights of the palate.
Camden Town, excellently served by bus and metro, includes not one but many markets, starting with the Camden Loch Market, housed in an old warehouse near the Regent Canal (open daily from 10 am to 6 pm, although the best days are Saturday and Sunday), and specialized in crafts, clothing, costume jewelry.
A few dozen meters away, on the east side, here is the Buck Street Market, open Monday to Sunday, from 9:30 am to 6 pm, where stalls focus on clothing and T-shirts in the most extravagant shapes, incredible creations by local stylists and designers eager to make themselves known.
A few blocks to the north open the Stables Market, built in what were the old stables, as evidenced by the large bronze statues of horses. Open Monday to Friday, from 10:30 am to 6 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am, it offers an impressive amount of vintage clothing, second-hand items, old records, objects from attics and basements, but also Japanese kimonos, ethnic clothes, African masks, garments and things resulting from the most volcanic creativity of young and unknown stylists.
Finally, the Canal Market, active only on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm, dedicated to accessories, T-shirts featuring rock stars, and street food.
