The cathedral of Otranto is located in the wonderful old town, the historic heart of Otranto, just a step away from the bastions; surrounded by the oldest buildings and intriguing paved alleys.
On the facade stands out a large Renaissance rose window, shining under the sun’s rays and overlooking an elegant Baroque portal. The interiors, with three naves, exude an incredible charm, helped by the spectacular floor mosaic, which depicts the Tree of Life and which, according to scholars, is the largest in Europe, created between 1163 and 1165 by the monk Pantaleone, using over six hundred thousand limestone tesserae.
