The Museum of the Battle of Vittorio Veneto is based on the collection of artifacts related to the First World War gathered by the Vittorio native Luigi Marson, a former grenadier and Boy of ’99, and later constantly expanded over time with numerous other relics coming from continuous bequests, gifts, and findings, among which the important photographic collection of Luigi Marzocchi (1888-1970).
The Museum was inaugurated on November 2, 1938, and over the years has also become a museum of itself, that is, it now shows how the Great War was seen and experienced when it was set up. It is an institution for the history and documentation of the 1915-18 conflict, with particular attention to the period of the invasion and the Battle that bears the name of the City of Vittorio Veneto; it collects numerous memories of the year of Austrian domination and the victorious days of the fateful October 1918 and illustrates the means by which the war was fought on both fronts.
