Il mausoleum, located near the quarries where on March 24, 1944, the massacre of 335 civilians was carried out in reprisal for the attack on Via Rasella, preserves artifacts, newspapers, documents, memorabilia, and photographs related to the German occupation of Rome (1943-1944).
Inside the museum located within, helmets, hats, mitras, and pistols of the SS are also displayed, as well as drawings created by the architect Giuseppe Perugini for the sanctuary (1944-1951).

L’ANFIM (National Association of Italian Martyrs’ Families) organizes free guided tours of the mausoleum. At the association’s headquarters (via Montecatini 8), it is possible to view the library, photographic archive, and video library.
To reach the Mausoleum of the Fosse Ardeatine, you can take Metro A (direction Anagnina) or bus line no. 714 to Piazza di S. Giovanni in Laterano. From there, take line 218, stopping at Fosse Ardeatine.
From Metro B (direction Laurentina), get off at Circo Massimo and continue with line 118 (direction Lagonegro) to the stop Catacombe di San Callisto.
