Per scuba diving in the Mediterranean, Cyprus is one of the most suitable places for various reasons. First of all, the water temperature – generally ranging between a minimum of 16 degrees and a maximum of 28 degrees in some areas, makes the period for diving particularly long throughout the year.
Moreover, off the coast of Cyprus, there is an absence of plankton: this means that visibility in the waters is greater, to the advantage of those who love to enjoy the marine landscape, here characterized by underwater cliffs, caves, and underwater passages. Around these natural elements revolve numerous species of colorful fish, sea urchins, sponges, octopuses, mussels, sea anemones, and wonderful corals.
For those who wish to go diving in Cyprus in a place full of history and charm, the advice is to go 1.4 kilometers from the coast of Larnaka: here lies the Zenobia, a 142-meter ferry that sank, on board of which were loaded 104 trucks. The event dates back to June 7, 1980 and since then, around the wreck – in perfect state of preservation – the marine landscape has changed on this sand and rock shoal, also because tunas, groupers, and barracudas live here.
