La cultivation of hemp in the Carmagnola area has ancient origins; raw fiber and very strong ropes were the subject of thriving trade, both nationally and internationally.
The Ecomuseum of the Culture of Hemp Processing, established at the site of the last still existing senté, preserves under the long canopy ancient tools and rich documentation on the traditional processing of ropes.
