La cultivation of hemp in the Carmagnola area has ancient origins; raw fiber and very strong ropes were the subject of a flourishing trade, both nationally and internationally.
The Ecomuseum of Hemp Culture and Processing, established at the site of the last remaining “senté,” preserves under the long shed ancient tools and rich documentation about the traditional rope-making process.
