The Santa Maria Nova site in Rome has three hectares of countryside dotted with ruins that revolve around an ancient farmhouse, left abandoned for about 10 years and illegally occupied by communities of undocumented immigrants, until its purchase by the State in 2006. Since then, excavation and restoration work has been carried out that has allowed the area to be opened to the public not only to enjoy the new important archaeological discoveries brought to light, but also to use the internal spaces of the farmhouse.
During the archaeological excavations carried out in the areas outside the building, numerous Roman-era structures were found: paved road sections, a 2nd century AD cemetery area, and buildings presumably belonging to the large complex of the Villa dei Quintili, adjacent to the estate.
It is possible to visit the Santa Maria Nova complex according to the opening hours and access methods for Villa dei Quintili.

- from September 1 to September 30: last entry 18.00 with exit at 19.00;
- from October 1 to the last Saturday in October: last entry 17.30 with exit at 18.30.
Every Sunday at 10.00 am a free guided tour in Italian is offered for a maximum of 40 people. Booking on site. Appointment at the entrance farmhouse of Villa dei Quintili on Via Appia Nuova.
