The site of Santa Maria Nova in Rome has three hectares of countryside dotted with ruins centered around an ancient farmhouse, left totally abandoned for about 10 years and illegally occupied by communities of illegal immigrants, until it was purchased by the State in 2006. Since then, excavation and restoration work has been carried out, allowing the area to be opened to the public not only to enjoy the new important archaeological discoveries brought to light, but also to use the internal spaces of the farmhouse.
During the archaeological excavations carried out in the areas outside the building, numerous Roman-era structures were found: paved road sections, a 2nd-century AD cemetery area, and buildings presumably belonging to the large complex of the Villa of the Quintili, adjacent to the estate.
It is possible to visit the Santa Maria Nova complex according to the opening hours and access methods of the Villa of the Quintili.

- from February 16 to March 15: last entry 4:00 PM with exit at 5:00 PM;
- from March 16 to the last Saturday of March: last entry 4:30 PM with exit at 5:30 PM;
- from the last Sunday of March to August 31: last entry 6:30 PM with exit at 7:30 PM;
- from September 1 to September 30: last entry 6:00 PM with exit at 7:00 PM;
- from October 1 to the last Saturday of October: last entry 5:30 PM with exit at 6:30 PM.
Every Sunday at 10:00 AM a free guided tour in Italian is offered for up to 40 people. Reservation on site. Meeting at the entrance farmhouse of the Villa of the Quintili on Via Appia Nuova.
