The Sansone Collection, mostly exhibited in the eponymous Pharmacy of Mattinata, located on the main street of the town, preserves artifacts of historical, archaeological, and folkloric nature. It is definitely a must-see for visitors, both for the ancient and original pharmaceutical furnishings and for the rich collection of archaeological finds.
An unusual combination of medicines and precious archaeological discoveries; over 4000 pieces collected by the late Dr. Matteo Sansone, a passionate collector, who promoted archaeological research and spread its value. It houses a large part of the artifacts from the Monte Saraceno necropolis; but there are also Daunian stelae, Daunian and Apulian vases, lithic tools, and even more recent statues belonging to the 18th-century nativity scenes, aiming to reconstruct segments of our history.
